Well, we've entered the busy season for decoys shows and they're in full swing! Started out by going to the Great White North...That's right, the Minnesota Decoy Show. This show is always a very well run show with excellent attendance. The room to room trading may have been a little slower then normal this year due to the 15 below zero temperature on Thursday, but Friday and Saturday at the show, there was plenty of public attendance and quite a few smiling faces leaving with a bird or two tucked under their arm. I can't stress enough how well ran this even is. Fabulous show ran by very helpful folks up there. Great job as usual.
Next event for us was the Edgerton, Wisc. show which is a one day event held at the local Community Center. This is a long running show that always seems to produce a couple nice buys along the way. This was my first time setting up at this show and I plan on returning next year to set up.
On to Henry, Illinois. Without question, this one day 8am-2pm show is the best attended outdoor sporting collectible event. Another year with around 1000 people attending. Simply put, if you want a nice Illinois River bird, this is the place to come. The amount of people that come to this show is amazing. As usual this was again a well ran show, and again this year Guyette, Schmidt, & Deeter Auction firm was there for appraisals and information on your wooden decoy treasures as well as calls.
If you didn't make any of these events, fear not, there's still more to come. The Oshkosh show as well as the Great Lakes show, and of course the Grand Daddy of them all- the National at St. Charles are all right around the corner. Those upcoming shows are listed in our prior blog, as well as the Illinois Valley show in August, but if you have any questions, just drop us a line. Below are a couple pictures from the Henry Show- As always, Thanks ~ Dave & Jeannette
